Book Overview

One cold January in Asbury Park, NJ., a dog gives birth to nine puppies. When Millie hears their desperate cries, she wonders what she can do to help.

The Puppies Find a Home tells the true story of author Helene DuGahl’s friend Millie who heard the whimpers of a family of dogs one cold, dark night in January. Looking over the fence she realized there were nine of them. Concerned with their health, she knocked on the neighbor’s door to see if she could take them home with her. The woman who answered was very gruff and told her she didn’t care and to go away. Determined, Millie knew she had to save the puppies.

A vibrantly illustrated tale interwoven with important lessons, The Puppies Find a Home will teach children how determination can help them make a difference.
